- Looks like I’m not the only one having a tricky time with Jessops for scanning negatives… I’m really quite angry about this now. The symptoms these people are describingmassively over-sharpened, insane amounts of artefacting and pixellationare exactly what I’ve experienced too. Very aggravating.

Sad to say, that’s Jessops for you. 🙁
Snappy Snaps printed about 600 digital photos for us. The contrast was far too high in most instances and too low in others, and some of the photos had digital artefacting too. We got a refund, took the CD to Jessops, and the resulting prints are fine.
I now know for future reference to ask that they do no pre-processing to the photos. Apparently most customers’ photos require some sharpening and increase in contrast, so that’s what they do by default.
I use peak imaging in Sheffield after a recommendation from a friend. The quality is excellent and they’re fast too.
