The Vatican article is dated 2004. Since then, we have a new pontiff, and there are indications that he might be re-thinking his predecessor’s views on evolution. It would be a pretty amusing to see one infallible person disagree with another, but I’m sure they’ll find a means of twisting John Paul II’s words to show that he and the current pope were in complete agreement.
